Introducing the Hear and Say Foundation

Hear and Say needs to raise additional funds so that the future of deaf babies and children in Queensland can be sound

Hear and Say cannot continue to support current growth and demand for its services without moving to the next phase in its development. The vision is for an Early Childhood Centre of Excellence that will enable Hear and Say to provide state of the art high-tech facilities for every deaf child and their families.

The Centre of Excellence will be located in a central Brisbane location to meet Hear and Say’s future growth predictions with the ability to service up to 800 deaf children on site and remotely through state of the art technology. It will also be the place for Hear and Say’s Research and Innovation and WorldWide training arms as well as a Queensland Hearing Health Indigenous Program.

This is where the Hear and Say Foundation fits in

Two critical things stand in the way of guaranteeing a sound future for deaf babies and children in Queensland. They are Space and Resources.

In 2009 Hear and Say outgrew its Auchenflower premises resulting in all of our operational and fundraising and some aspects of the Auditory-Verbal Therapy program moving to dislocated rented premises away from the main centre. A $5 million capital investment is required to have a state of the art Early Childhood Centre of Excellence under one roof.

Ongoing demand for Hear and Say services and programs is estimated to grow from 500 in 2011 to 800 by 2015.  Hear and Say requires additional clinical and support staff, state of the art equipment, services and programs to meet the immediate needs of our deaf children let alone their future needs.  A further $5 million over 3-years will help secure our ongoing future resource needs and those babies that are yet to be born.

We want our benefactors to become a part of the Hear and Say family

As a member of the Hear and Say family your level of involvement is yours to choose; from visiting us during playgroup; to attending graduation ceremonies; to helping us to celebrate our achievements and milestones.

Of course we will speak to you about other more formal ways you would like us to acknowledge your investment. These may include ‘naming rights’, speaking at opening events and launches; and other forms of recognition. Our objective is to work with each benefactor to identify benefits that best reflect their needs.
